BREAKING: Historic Testing of Walt Disney World Railroad Takes Place
The Walt Disney World Railroad may just be the Magic Kingdom’s most iconic attraction. Nothing sets the mood for a day at the park, like hearing that train whistle, and seeing the steam engine chugging past Main Street USA.
Unfortunately, guests will have to wait a little bit longer to ride the railroad. But today we saw something at the Magic Kingdom that we will likely never see again, and we have video!
An Historic Day
When arriving at the Magic Kingdom today, guests were greeted by a familiar site, the Walter E Disney train, stationed at Main Street USA. Although the train was just testing, visitors to the Magic Kingdom were witnesses to a sight that has never been seen in the park before.
In order to test out the train’s new engine, engineers are double decking the train. They have also added extension cars on the back!
According to a Walt Disney World Railroad coordinator, this is something that has nobody has ever seen before, and will likely never see again! Here’s a really cool shot of the train’s historic testing!
Also making its debut on the Walter E Disney today, is a brand new boiler! Furthermore, according to Cast Members, the train has been meticulously restored to the state it was in when it opened 51 years ago!
The train looks BEAUTIFUL! I can’t wait to get an up close look at the entire fleet when the attraction reopens!
A Long Wait
For those of you don’t know, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed since December of 2018. This was done in order to facilitate the construction of TRON Lightcycle Run.
After years of waiting for the beloved attraction to return, it appears as if we are getting close the finish line!
With Tron’s construction wrapping up, the Walt Disney World Railroad is expected to be up and running by the Spring of 2023.
