MickeyBlog News for July 25th, 2022
This week, the Avengers fly, park guests slug it out, and MagicBand+ confirms its launch date.
We’re holding out for a hero in the latest edition of MickeyBlog News.
Avengers Campus – Parisian Edition
On July 20th, Avengers Campus went international.
You may recall that Disney California Adventure introduced the new themed land almost immediately after Disneyland Report reopened.

At the time, construction was underway on the second iteration of Avengers Campus.
You’ll find this one at Walt Disney Studios Park, the least popular Disney theme park in the western hemisphere and arguably the world.

In other words, this park really needs a boost. Park officials have bet huge on the Marvel Cinematic Universe to save the day.
Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel re-themed to Marvel in June of 2021. Now, Disneyland Paris has added an accompanying themed land.

At this Avengers Campus, you’ll find another version of WEBSLINGERS – A Spider-Man Adventure.
However, that’s not the showcase Marvel attraction. Walt Disney Studios Park unveiled this beauty:
You can probably tell what this ride had been before its re-theming. Yes, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith has left the building.
In its place, Avengers Assemble: Flight Force entertains guests with a fast-paced roller coaster experience.

The introduction of this ride turns Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind into the second-newest Disney ride in the world…and also the second-newest Marvel one.
Similarly, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which is less than a year old, is now the third newest. So, Disney is somehow churning out new rides despite the pandemic!
Why Can’t We Be Friends?
Folks, I cannot believe I’m typing this, but we’ve had another fight at Magic Kingdom.
Fox 35 Orlando captured a video of the conflict, which you can watch:
Despite the Fantasyland location, this one has all the makings of a hall brawl.
We’ve got a handcuffed dude yelling threats, some people throwing sucker punches after the action appears to be over, and more yelling than you’ll find at a playoff game.

Oddly, one of the furious parties is wearing matching attire, the kind you’d find from a carefully planned family vacation.
All this takes place within steps of Prince Regal Carrousel and Peter Pan’s Flight.
So, while you cannot see many in the shot, they’re probably everywhere, watching in confusion.
The reporting on this matter was vague at first, but we’ve since learned additional details.

Apparently, a member of one party realized that they’d left a phone in their Electric Conveyance Vehicle.
This individual left the line to retrieve their belongings. When they returned, a member of the other party shoved them as they tried to reenter the queue.
They Missed the Point of the Show

These actions transpired at Mickey’s PhilharMagic, where both parties then watched the show.
Afterward, both groups exited the attraction building, wherein a confrontation occurred. The matter devolved quickly until members of the groups exchanged blows.

Disney trains its cast members to avoid physical altercations with guests. Confrontations like this are problematic, as it’s challenging to intercede.
Cast members reportedly appeared on the scene within two minutes, while the Orange County police arrived after five minutes.

Those strike me as excellent response times. Still, social media has questioned why people are still pushing and shoving after several minutes.
The reality is that the person who can do something is handcuffing the most disruptive guest.

Uniformed cast members, the ones in Fantasyland attire, cannot do anything other than shout, “Hey! Stop that!” And they’re clearly doing that.
As for the guests, updates suggest that members of both parties earned permanent Disney theme park bans.

Also, at least two participants face charges for their actions. I presume it’s the one who throws multiple sucker punches and the other in handcuffs.
Be Kind, My Friends

This scuffle represents the latest in a string of heavily publicized fights at Disney parks. Another took place on a Ferry Boat.
Meanwhile, an infamous 2019 incident involved several haymakers thrown at Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland.
MickeyBlog also reported a May incident wherein a woman waiting for a fireworks presentation objected to people walking up in front of her.
That situation also deteriorated and led to the victim being pulled to the ground and treated for injuries.

This week’s Magic Kingdom incident also led to injuries, as one person reported required medical attention for a chin wound…which sounds like a punch landing.
Disney probably needs to increase security as the world grows more combative. The cast members did nothing wrong, but this is still a bad look.
Disney News Tidbits
I’m happy to report that a long-anticipated moment is coming to Walt Disney World.
Park officials confirmed that MagicBand+ will debut on July 27th. Yes, that’s this week!

When that happens, guests can use a technologically advanced theme park wearable. It includes illuminated lighting, haptic feedback, and interactive elements.
Once you own a MagicBand+, you’ll want to carry it around Walt Disney World and wave it at the various 50th-anniversary statues! Of course, they’ll respond in kind!
In exiting through the gift shop news, Toy Story Mania riders were in for a surprise the other day.
The new Jessie’s Trading Post store opened at the ride’s exit. Now, you’ll funnel through here on your way out of the attraction building.
You should pick up some Toy Story/cowgirl merchandise along the way!
At EPCOT, the Moroccan pavilion has brought back live entertainment.
Guests can watch Atlas Fusion play Moroccan music. During the set, a belly dancer will come out and perform! We haven’t seen either of these things since before the pandemic!
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Tumble Monkeys officially returned last week. Here’s a video of the 2022 Festival of the Lion King:
The other park news comes from Disneyland Resort, where the Red Car Trolley is once again making its way through Disney California Adventure!
Finally, Disney Cruise Line fans will love this update. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have ended the COVID-19 cruise program.
Cruises no longer appear on the high-risk travel list. Not coincidentally, cruise stocks have soared since the announcement. The worst is over, my friends!
