BREAKING: Cars Seen on Track of TRON Coaster at Magic Kingdom This Morning
Well this is an exciting development in the evolution of Disney World’s new TRON Coaster! Our MickeyBloggers are on the scene at Tomorrowland this morning and during a journey on the PeopleMover noticed that, for the first time, cars for the TRON Coaster can be seen on the tracks!
Earlier this month we reported that Disney would start testing the attraction, though this is the first time we’ve actually seen Lightcycle/Run in action!
Imagineers previously advised that the plan is to run tests on the ride vehicles at incremental speeds, eventually working up to full-speed launches.
And you know what that means Disney friends? We are inching ever closer to an opening date!
If you’ll be visiting Magic Kingdom in the days or weeks ahead, be on the lookout for the ride vehicles making their way out of the launch zone underneath the attractions outdoor canopies.
The canopies are still in the process of being covered so there are some pretty awesome sightlines!
We can’t wait to see more of the testing in weeks to come!
Once completed, this beauty take guests on a fast-paced ride through cyber-space just like in the TRON films.
As you can see from these images, the coaster will feature both indoor and outdoor elements.
Outdoors, the ride will zoom underneath a massive illuminated canopy which is what you are seeing taking shape in these awesome construction images.
The tracks were a bustle of activity as groups gathered round to test the cars this morning.
The ride vehicles have been at the park for over a month now.
We previously shared images with you of them being brought in on truck beds back in February.
As you can see from the unique shape of the ride vehicles, rather than traditional coaster cars, guests will climb onto what looks like space-aged cycles to race through the virtual world!
This attraction is inspired by the TRON films (of course) and also by the popular TRON Lightcycle Power/Run attraction at Shanghai Disney.
We know that this new addition to Tomorrowland and the Magic Kingdom skyline will be every bit as dynamic as the original!
Once completed, the canopies will light up giving guests aboard the lightcycles the feeling that you are soaring through cyberspace!
The attraction is located between Space Mountain and the Tomorrowland Speedway.
As of going to print, Disney has yet to announce an opening date for the attraction.
