Firecracker Cone Returns to Pineapple Lanai
It’s a muggy one today at the Walt Disney World resort, but guests visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort can cool off with a specialty treat for the holiday weekend. Pineapple Lanai brought back the Memorial Day weekend favorite, the Firecracker Cone, to celebrate the 4th of July.
Of course, the ceremonial Disney traditional Dole Whip at the quick-service stop just off the back of the Great Ceremonial House still ranks high on the list of ways to cool off. Today, the firecracker cone offers a sweeter option as well with its pale pink raspberry soft serve.
Patriotic sprinkles top the sweet delight with star-shaped sprinkles. The real bang in this treat though is the pale blue crunch speckled within the five-pointed candies.
They actually explode as they hit the palate! No wonder they are named “firecracker” candies!
The soft serve comes with a fresh-baked crunchy waffle cone curled to perfection on top. The light, sweet flavor perfectly balances the excitement from the candies.
At only $5.29, grabbing one of these cones and heading for a seat inside the Great Ceremonial House not only helps to beat the humidity but also get out of the this weekend’s rain for a bit.
If cupcakes more fit the bill for today’s indulgence, head to Captain Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for the 4th of July cupcake. This pile of chocolate greatness features a chocolate mousse filling. Even more, a white chocolate truffle cake pop adorns the top of the buttercream frosting.
Hurricane Elsa got downgraded to a tropical storm this morning. Her path looks like it may just skirt the Orlando area around Tuesday evening. Still, guests at the resort expect to deal with a wet weekend. The usual Florida rain is expected in bulk today with storms tappering off throughout the rest of the weekend and into Tuesday.
