Encanto Continues to Dazzle Audiences and Critics Alike
Encanto’s esteemed rise to critical and audience acclaim has only continued since the film made it’s Christmas Eve debut on Disney+ over the weekend. As you can see from the new promo image above, the film has already earned the National Board of Review award for “Best Animated Feature.” It has also been nominated for 2 Critics Choice Awards and earned an impressive 9 Annie Award Nominations.
For the Critics Choice Awards, the film was nominated in the “Best Animated Feature” category where it is pitted against, Flee, Luca, The Mitchells vs. the Machines and Raya and the Last Dragon. The song “Dos Orguitas” was also nominated in the best Best Song category.
The Critics Choice Award will take place on January 9, 2022.
For the Annie Awards, Encanto was only outshined by Raya and the Last Dragon which earned the most nominations. However, it is including in some incredible categories including:
- Best Feature
- Best FX – Feature
- Best Character Animation – Feature
- Best Direction – Feature
- Best Musical – Feature
- Best Storyboarding- Feature
- Best Voice Acting – Feature
- Best Editorial Feature
The Annie Awards will take place on Saturday, February 26th.

In addition, Encanto currently has a 91% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes with a 93% rating with audiences.
For those unfamiliar, the film follows the Madrigal where every member is blessed with a magic gift unique to them. Everyone, that is, except Mirabel. When the family’s home – an enchanted place known as an “Encanto” – is threatened, Mirabel may be the family’s only hope. With original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
