New 50th Anniversary Merchandise Collection Release Draws Huge Crowds to Magic Kingdom
It sure has been a busy day at Walt Disney World today! With only ten days to go until the 50th Anniversary of the resort, an exciting collection of new commemorative merchandise has finally arrived on the shelves.
Of course, we knew there would be a lot of demand for these hot new items, judging by your reaction when we shared a peek of them back in August.
But, upon arriving at the Emporium in Magic Kingdom this morning, we couldn’t believe just how busy the store was!
Standing proudly in the center of the store is a celebratory display, topped with a huge ’50’. It’s very exciting, but very, very busy.
Much to the relief of fans who aren’t able to go Disney shopping today, a new policy has been put in place across the resort which should help items stay on the shelves a bit longer.
Since earlier this year, the purchase of many items across Walt Disney World has been capped at two units per item, per guest. This means that guests are strictly only able to purchase two of each item, preventing bulk-buying.
This ever-extending rule is already in place for the 50th Anniversary releases, and all the new Halloween merchandise offerings, too.
These Cast Members are doing a brilliant job at making sure everyone gets their fair share of merch!
Amongst all the new releases are must-have Minnie Ear headbands, some wacky Crocs, fun t-shirts, and more. Which items are on your list?
We are aware that there will be some readers who may feel uneasy about these crowd levels following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Please rest assured that guests and Cast Members are still required to wear face coverings indoors, unless exempt.
Although physical distancing is encouraged, crowds are still forming.
Can you believe there’s a bare shelf there already? These fun items sure are popular – and the 50th Anniversary celebrations have still yet to begin!
If you have been following MickeyBlog today, you will be aware that Space 220 Restaurant opened in EPCOT this morning – and MickeyBloggers were the first there!
Crowd levels were also very high entering EPCOT this morning – but the food was delicious. Check out the full experience here!
Are you headed to the Emporium later to do a spot of 50th Anniversary merchandise shopping? If so, we hope you get what you are hoping for…but, be prepared to queue!
