Everything We Know About ‘Toy Story 5’
While it seemed like the Toy Story franchise had come to an end with the fitting conclusion of Toy Story 4, Pixar is getting the band back together for another adventure.
The last time we caught up with Bonnie’s toys, Woody had decided to part ways with Buzz and the rest of the gang to stay with Bo Peep and help other lost toys find new homes.
Soon, however, it looks like Woody will be back with Bonnie and his friends.
‘Toy Story 5’ Will Bring Woody Home
When Pete Docter took the stage at D23: The Ultimate Fan event to preview Toy Story 5, he shared a piece of concept art from the film that depicts Woody side-by-side with Buzz, Jessie, Rex, Forky, and the rest of his friends.
While it remains to be seen how Pixar will reunite Woody with the rest of Bonnie’s toys, we do know what the gang will face this time around.

“Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder when they go head to head with an all-new threat to playtime: technology,” the film’s synopsis reads.
In the early art of the film, Bonnie seems to be ignoring the toys in favor of an iPad.
Andrew Stanton Will Direct
In addition to the film’s basic plot, we know that Andrew Stanton will be directing Toy Story 5. Stanton’s involvement in the project was previously teased by Tim Allen last November.
Stanton, of course, has been a creative force at Pixar since the beginning, helping to launch the Toy Story franchise. Originally joining the studio in 1990 as its second animator, he would go on to write both Toy Story and Toy Story 2. After making his directorial debut with Finding Nemo, Stanton followed the film up with WALL-E. The latter film would garner him his second Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
In addition to working on other Pixar classics, including Ratatouille, Up, Brave, Inside Out, and Monsters University, Stanton returned to write Toy Story 3 and co-write Toy Story 4.
When Will ‘Toy Story 5’ Hit Theaters?
With Stanton at the helm and Woody back in the picture, Toy Story fans have every reason to be excited for the upcoming film.
They will, however, have to wait a little longer, as Toy Story 5 will not be released in theaters until June 16, 2026.
