Manga Sequel for The Nightmare Before Christmas

Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas receives a sequel; however, it may not be in the expected form. This continuation will be in the form of a new manga sequel.

A Sequel to a Classic

Titled The Nightmare Before Christmas: Mirror Moon, Jack Skellington brings Halloween cheer to other holidays! Indeed, his antics have the exact opposite goal as the original film.

Since its release in 1993, The Nightmare Before Christmas became a Halloween and Christmas holiday tradition, creatively meshing the drastically different celebrations. Also, the movie displayed new-age stop motion animation at that time.

Finally, this beloved Disney movie obtains a long-awaited sequel. Other sequel forms exist, such as the video game The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie’s Revenge and as a new adult novel in 2022.

The Nightmare Before Christmas: Mirror Moon

However, another unique manga sequel is on the horizon. The Nightmare Before Christmas: Mirror Moon includes the creative works of Mallory Reaves, Gabriella Chianello, and Nataliya Torretta.

The manga will be in full color, and of course, Jack’s new holiday-themed plan involves zany and wacky antics. The synopsis reads, “When the master of scares, Jack Skellington, has a dream about bringing his expertise in spookiness to the rest of the holiday worlds, he appoints Sally, the official Halloween planner, so he can spend his time on his newest invention. But, as Sally coordinates with the Halloween Town residents, it becomes clear that something is very wrong. It’s almost as if there’s a secret doppelganger sneaking around her back! Can she get to the bottom of this mystery in time to save the celebrations?”

Apparently, Jack learned that he should not take over the holidays. Instead, he knows to appreciate them while sharing the great aspects of Halloween!

Now, will Jack successfully achieve his plan, or will he ruin something once again? Either way, The Nightmare Before Christmas fans anxiously await this new manga sequel!

Release Dates

The first issue was released on July 21, 2021. The second issue releases on August 18, 2021, and the graphic novel with both issues releases on October 26, 2021…just in time for Halloween!
