EPCOT Guardians Ride Roof Construction Blasts Off
With much of the work focused indoors, it’s hard to know how progress really is coming along on the next huge thrill ride to open in EPCOT: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Nevertheless, MickeyBloggers wandered that direction today to get a glimpse of progress on the exterior.
Billed to be one of the largest indoor coasters ever made, the attraction will be the first Guardians-themed ride at Walt Disney World. The thrilling new attraction was originally proposed to open in time for the Walt Disney World’s resort anniversary celebration. However, due to pandemic delays, the much-anticipated ride still does not have an opening date.
Guardians Roofing Blasts Off
The former Universe of Energy pavillion continues to undergo expansive renovations to accomodate the coaster. Engineers and construction specialists clearly seemed focused on roof work today.
With the monorail beginning service to EPCOT again tomorrow, guests will assuredly also catch their own glimpses of the construction underway. The enormous blue building that houses the entire ride track sits just inside the entryway to EPCOT.
The metal panels added to the roof recently definitely show progress on the building’s exterior. The blue wrapping appeared a few months ago. The new additions that we saw today certainly add that edgy Guardians character and a sense of the outside theming.
Luckily, Walt Disney Imagineering has shared a couple sneak peaks at the interior to hold all of us over.

“We can’t wait to share more on this truly out-of-this-world, awesome attraction as we make progress on construction and put these coaches on the track!” said Imagineer Zach Riddley on Instagram.
Music, Thrill, and Storytelling Combine
The ride combines the unique features of four popular Disney atttractions. Specifically, guests can expect the storytelling of Magic Kingdom’s Seven Dwarfs Mine Train with the backwards launch of Animal Kingdom’s Expedition Everest. True to “Guardians” awesome soundtrack, the ride will also feature the on-board music of Hollywood Studios’ Rock’n Roller Coaster, and the exhilirating launch of Disney California Adventure Park’s Incredicoaster.
“This attraction is unique in that we have developed a new roller coaster system that allows us to turn the guests in any direction along the ride, we call it an Omnicoaster. It provides unique sensations while letting guests focus on the action and adventure taking place in front of them. The rotational element, quick speeds, music, and more happening all around you combine to create the adventure guests will experience,” said Walt Disney Imagineering Senior Producer Wyatt Winter in a Marvel interview.
