Indy 5 Production Decorates Glasgow In Red, White & Blue
No, they weren’t celebrating the U.S.A.’s birthday; Indiana Jones V was in town…
Firstly, one of the top headlines of the newspaper covering the town where Indy 5 is filming was, “Teacher headbutted 16-year-old schoolboy…” Secondly, while that might sound like something out of a Mike Myers “Scottish” sketch, it was the actual title of a story out of Glasgow, Scotland.

But, today the Daily Record out of Glasgow also posted a less exciting story entitled, “Indiana Jones Glasgow’ filming to get underway as city centre transformed into movie set: The action is about to kick off with flags and banners hung for the fifth offering in the movie franchise.”

Glasgow U.S.A.
Claire Galloway of the Daily Record explained:

It was previously rumoured parts of the fifth Indiana Jones movie would be shot in the city – and it seems the action is about to kick off… [I]t’s Glasgow city centre’s turn as streets in the Merchant City area were transformed into an American-style film set.
US flags were hung from buildings and stars and stripes bunting was put up on St Vincent Street and Hope Street.
Shop signs, including one for a barbershop, were also put on Monday as the scene was set for the movie.”

Making A Movie On July 4
Monday, as you know, happened to be July 4, or the United States’ 245th birthday. And Glasgow certainly looked the part:

This photo seems to confirm the setting of the film in the 1960s. The flag shown looks like the 50-star flag was adopted in August 1959.

Now we see that the physical location is supposed to be New York (City?).

One wonders how the Bank of Scotland will be digitally altered.
Still Shooting

And as far as rumors that shooting on Indy 5 would be delayed until the fall (due to the injury sustained by leading man Harrison Ford), Director James Mangold set minds at ease.
We’re all good. Shooting! But thanks!
