Dr. Jones Heads To Glasgow, Scotland
Our favorite archeologist continues his extended tour of the UK…
Firstly, I don’t know why, because all they really do is emphasize that we aren’t going to see Indy 5 until next year (at the earliest). However, all of these stories about the meanderings of James Mangold’s Indy 5 production are fun. Simple fun.
Secondly, I am really getting a kick out of seeing Harrison Ford on his bike, pointing his finger, and dressed up as Indiana Jones.

Apparently, the next stop is Glasgow, Scotland.
In fact, Glasgowlive.co.uk posted that Mr. Ford and Co. will soon be in Glasgow city centre.

Yesterday we revealed how film crews were spotted on the banks of Loch Lomond near to Luss as scenes for Indiana Jones 5 are being shot across Scotland… The scenes in the Highlands saw cameras capture a high-speed chase with two stunt performers racing through the famous valley in front of the stunning backdrop of the Buachaille Etive Mor on black World War Two era motorbikes.
And now a source has told Glasgow Live that filming will take place in Glasgow city centre in July.
Hollywood, Scotland
That area is a familiar shooting location in Scotland, even for blockbusters, as evidenced by the tweet below.
The Batman looks like the best of Nolan's series fused with a David Fincher detective film noir. I am very, very much here for this.
Shout out to the Glasgow Necropolis shot!

Meanwhile, a little research (a little as in Wikipedia) says that Glasgow owns a long history as a Hollywood set. As noted above, the upcoming film The Batman (Robert Pattinson) shot there recently. Moreover, Trainspotting (Ewan McGregor), World War Z (Brad Pitt), and Under the Skin (Scarlett Johansson) all shot scenes in or around the city.
Don’t know much about Glasgow? Well, the fourth-largest city in the UK, Glasgow boasts over 630,000 residents and is situated on the River Clyde and is the fifth most visited city in the UK.

An Awesome Adventure, Minor Kerfuffle
Meanwhile, while folks were knocked out to see “Batman” in town, Glasgowlive’s Williams admitted seeing “Hollywood actor Harrison Ford on a city street while suited and booted as the American archaeologist and adventurer” would be awesome.
However, there has been some kerfuffle regarding Mangold’s directing the film, “minus” Spielberg. However, in true Indiana Jones form, Mangold battled back:
Thanks, Matt!
1) Keep making the world a better place crapping on things in the 1st week of production from your basement.
2) Never seen a script by Jon. Nothing against him. Just reality. Butterworths & I started from a blank page.
3) 1-3 r hugely talented & all at my side.— Mangold (@mang0ld) June 13, 2021
Mangold emphasized that Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, and Harrison Ford are all there by his side. But he also reiterated that it’s his script and that he’d like a chance to actually make the movie before people started “crapping” on it.
From a fan’s standpoint, I would direct any nay-sayers to Peter Travers’ review of Logan.

“[D]irector James Mangold… in peak form and working deep and true, unleashes the dogs of war,” he wrote in 2017, of Mangold, who previously directed (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine). “Logan has the shape of a classic western. Shane is directly referenced in one scene and the elegiac tone of the film recalls Clint Eastwood’s Oscar-winning Unforgiven. And like those old horse operas, Mangold investigates the nature of heroism by giving the grizzled Wolverine someone new to protect.”
Mangold also tweeted:
Well if it's any relief, the story came from my co-writers and myself. No star chamber. No corporate edicts. I simply adore Indy and admire Harrison and I have been inspired by Steven Spielberg all my life.. so this project allows me a chance to collaborate with personal heroes.

Who knows, maybe Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be that new someone for Indy.
Or maybe, just maybe, she’ll be protecting Dr. Jones – just like Mangold.
