Harrison Hurt? Ford Injured Rehearsing Fight For Indy 5
The Indiana Jones production will continue as Ford recovers…
Firstly, typical: Harrison Ford injured (or sickened) while doing an action sequence. Happened before; it will happen again. In fact, one of the most iconic moments in franchise history — the duel with the swordsman in Raiders of the Lost Ark — happened because Ford fell ill (with dysentery) while filming the sequence. So, Harrison asked to cut the scene short.

Secondly, true to form, the oft-injured Ford sidelined again.
Shoulder Injury For Ford
In an exclusive, Deadline reported:
Harrison Ford hurt himself rehearsing a fight scene in Indiana Jones 5, sources tell Deadline. The extent of his injury wasn’t immediately known, but it involves his shoulder. Director James Mangold will continue to shoot around him while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated. The filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks. Disney has set the Lucasfilm action thriller for a July 29, 2022 release date.

Meanwhile, Disney also released a statement (also via Deadline):
In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder. Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.”
As noted above, Ford — who often performs his own stunts — gets hurt while wearing the fedora.

Screen Rant reminded readers about the various injuries collected by Ford, and his alter ego on set.
- Raiders of the Lost Ark – Food poisoning, torn ACL
- Temple of Doom – Back injury, spinal fusion after filming a fight sequence.
Yes, I typed, “spinal fusion.” His stuntman did the majority of filming while Ford recovered.
Back (Injury) In The Day
Check out this old Indiana Jones documentary that shows the background on that injury:
Han Vs. Hydraulic Door
And, as a “bonus,” Han Solo earned Harrison an injury while on the set of The Force Awakens.
Deadline also explained, “Ford suffered a serious injury when his leg was broken by a hydraulic door in a freak accident on the set of the Millennium Falcon spaceship while reprising Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in June 2014 at London’s Pinewood Studios.”
Ford had a lot of fun explaining that injury to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show.”
However, as late as last week, we posted about Ford’s amazing health regimen.
Finally, as others have noted, hopefully, this injury is just a minor setback for the production.
