How Star Wars: Andor Descended On Cleveleys, UK
How would it be if a “galaxy far, far away” came to your town? Cleveleys, UK knows!
This story hits close to home, even if it’s an ocean away. You see, Cleveleys, a town in England on the Fylde Coast, recently had a close encounter with some folks from out of town; way out of town.
Yes, visitors from the Star Wars galaxy showed up on the beach, when the production of Andor set up shop by the seaside.
Pew, Pewing in England
And, our friends “across the pond” were kind enough to post a video diary, photos, and blog posts while Diego Luna et al were out pew, pewing.
A wet and windy day in #Andor today. At least Diego brought his coat and hand warmer.#StarWars #Cleveleys #DiegoLuna @cleveleysnews pic.twitter.com/6l3gXCapp3

Well that was a whirlwind after #Covid lockdown! This #seaside town sprang to live for a couple of weeks in early May. But why was #StarWars filming in #Cleveleys? https://t.co/YB6eU6ExlK #FyldeCoast pic.twitter.com/tUVFw59BJR

Hello Cleveleys!
The local tourist site, VisitCleveleys.co.uk posted, “Well, that was a whirlwind of excitement, after the inactivity of Covid lockdown! This seaside town sprang to life for a couple of short weeks in early May 2021… With sightings of Diego Luna filming in Cleveleys for Star Wars, it has to be spin-off Andor.”
We’ve been following the production of Andor throughout the UK right here on MickeyBlog.com:

Apparently, a Hollywood location manager is from the Cleveleys-area and had worked on Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children movie when it filmed in nearby Blackpool. Those experiences had him recommend the area to the Star Wars folks. The rest will soon be canon.
After the filming was over, the production crew sent a note to the town:
The filming has been a great success and we have thoroughly enjoyed spending time and working in your town, and hope you had a good experience too. We and the production team want to thank you for your hospitality, patience, and understanding throughout our preparation, filming, and reinstatement. We look forward to seeing your town immortalized on screen next year and thank you for being part of the process.”

Meanwhile, take a look at one of the production diaries – you’ll hear our charming local host “recognizing” Shoretroopers:
“Did you ever think you’d ever live to see something like this in Cleveleys?” asked our narrator. And I can honestly answer, “No, I did not.”

Does any of the set coverage from England make you excited to see Andor!
