California Hopes to Fully Reopen Economy by Mid-June
Oh, boy! It surely has been an exciting day in the theme park world. We continue to monitor good news that has been announced today including when ticket sales will once again begin for Disneyland and Walt Disney World has taken the first step in rolling back it’s mask mandate.
Additionally, we have even more good news to pass along! Governor Newsom has just announced that he wishes to fully reopen the State of California’s economy by June 15, 2021!
While fully reopening the State of California’s economy by mid-June has it obvious positive impacts, it will most likely mean even more for Disney fans around the world. When Disneyland reopens later this month, only those who are California residents will be allowed entry.
However, we would anticipate that if California’s economy is fully open, Guests who are not residents of California will be allowed to visit as well.
With 20 million COVID-19 vaccines in arms, low & stable hospitalizations, CA is on track to fully reopen on June 15 with masking & vaccinations. Get ready to hug your loved ones, to have that dinner, to go to that movie…California’s future is bright. pic.twitter.com/kORtpKUOSI

While June 15, 2021 is the goal date for the State of California to fully reopen, there are two things that must happen before then.
First, there must be an adequate supply of COVID-19 vaccines for all who are eligible to receive them. In addition, low COVID levels must be reported and hospitalizations due to COVID-19 must remain low.
Currently, officials use a tiered approach for reopening different regions/counties of the California. But, if things keep going in the right direction, the regional/county-wide reopening tiers will be retired and the entire state will move into this green reopening phase as a whole.
California’s colored, restrictive tier system is set to be retired as early as June 15, with Anaheim, Orange County and all of California moving to a green tier that allows largely normal operations with masks, vaccines and testing.

While things are slowly starting to return to “normal” in California, the mask mandate will remain in place even after the entire state moves into the green tier on or around June 15, 2021.
