Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi: Vader’s Role In The Show?
Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi: Rumors abound, but many fans are here for all of it….
Just a few weeks ago, Kathleen Kennedy told a rapt audience on The Walt Disney Company’s Investor Day 2020 broadcast spilled the caf on the premise of the upcoming Disney + show, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Firstly, Kennedy teased of Disney+’s Obi-Wan:
Last August at the D-23 Expo in Anaheim, we announced the return of Ewan McGregor in the iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi for a special event series on Disney+.

Obi-Wan Kenobi begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Revenge of the Sith, where he faced his greatest defeat:the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned-evil-Sith-Lord, Darth Vader. Our fans will be thrilled that Hayden Christensen will be returning in the role of Darth Vader. This will be the rematch of the century.”
“This will be the rematch of the century…” Isn’t that the UNDERSTATEMENT of the century?
Of course, Kennedy is actually speaking of a rematch of the second cinematic duel (which in Star Wars chronology comes first, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) between Vader and Kenobi, the duel on Mustafar (years before the Death Star duel in Episode IV: A New Hope).
Vader & Kenobi Return
Secondly, we’ve heard that both actors are fired up about their return to the (small) screen.
And descriptions of the upcoming series eked out from the top-secret footage shown to upper-ups on Investor Day.
“There’s a hunger for this character to come back,” McGregor said in footage screened exclusively for investors during Thursday’s presentation. “The fans have been waiting long enough, you know?”
Added [Director Deborah] Chow, “This is quite a dark time that we’re coming into with him, just being a Jedi — it’s not safe. There’s Jedi hunters out there.”
“Ooh,” As Mr. Food used to say, “it’s so good.”
And if a recent rumor (emphasis on RUMOR) is anywhere near what we’ll be seeing; well, second helpings will be in order.
A Tasty Rumor?
WeGotThisCovered.com posted the rumor, noting its provenance:
Anyways, if you’re interested, here’s what [a source called “Doomcock”] has to say:
“Vader will haunt Obi-Wan in dreams and visions and they will fight again, but in a dream, or even possibly in a nexus of the Dark Side of the Force like when Luke fought Vader in the cave in Empire Strikes Back. It will basically end by Kenobi killing Vader anew, realizing that what he did was necessary and coming to terms with the situation.”
Hey, I wouldn’t be shocked if the above is what we see.
However, OTHER rumors say that Darth, himself, is running a shop bent on tracking down Kenobi.
Finally, I don’t care either way. I have been waiting for Obi-Wan’s story to be expanded. Bottom Line: Kenobi’s return to canon screen via Disney+’s Obi-Wan is a gift.
