Star Wars: Vaderific Investor Day Takes
And by Vaderific, I mean new Darth Vader info, folks!
I mean, I know what I took away from the Star Wars news at Investors Day 2020: A headache.
Almost everything that was announced was new, or contained entirely new information. I was blown away, hence the continued ringing in my ears.
But I digress….
Hot Star Wars Takes From Investor Day
The Hollywood Reporter’s Richard Newby published his — much more important — takeaways from the Disney Investor Day 2020 Lucasfilm presentation.
Of Disney’s plans, Newby posted:
As revealed from yesterday’s Lucasfilm presentation, delivered by president Kathleen Kennedy, Disney+ will be central to the future of Star Wars, though that’s not to say Lucasfilm doesn’t also have major plans for the big-screen as well.
Star Wars fans have a lot to be excited about, but there were five major takeaways about the galaxy far, far way.
So as to not steal Mr. Newby’s thunder, I tease just one of his five terrific takeaways, and then send you to THR to reveal the rest.
Speaking of Star Wars villains, Darth Vader is returning for the limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi, where he’ll once again be portrayed by Hayden Christensen. That’s right, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen will be reuniting on screen for the first time since 2005’s Revenge of the Sith. The series directed by Deborah Chow, set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, will see Kenobi and Vader cross sabers again. We know how that went last time when the Jedi Master left his fallen former apprentice wrecked and burning on Mustafar. Undoubtedly fans are hoping for a bit more action and choreography in this showdown than their final duel in A New Hope, where Lucas was obviously still getting the hang of delivering lightsaber duels. But is Christensen’s return a one-time event?

How Vaderific will the Obi-Wan Kenobi series be?
And we might have an answer to that question over at a pal’s YouTube page:
EXCLUSIVE: The Villains Of The Obi-Wan Kenobi Series!
Corey and Noah reveal who the main villains of the Kenobi series will be…
Darth Vader? Commander Cody? It’s a whole lot, kids. I know. I know.

More On Obi-Wan and Darth Vader
But now we read a description of the Obi-Wan Kenobi footage not shown to “regular” viewers of Investors Day.

D23 EXPO 2019 (The Walt Disney Company/Image Group LA)
“There’s a hunger for this character to come back,” McGregor said in footage screened exclusively for investors during Thursday’s presentation. “The fans have been waiting long enough, you know?”
Added Chow, “This is quite a dark time that we’re coming into with him, just being a Jedi — it’s not safe. There’s Jedi hunters out there.”
Ah! Sounds familiar.
And, also:
Chow confirmed that audiences will “definitely see Obi-Wan and Darth Vader get into it again” as we see the blue blade of a hooded Obi-Wan clash with the fiery red blade of Darth Vader, evoking imagery of their previous encounter in Revenge of the Sith.
Can. Not. Wait.
