Disney Confirms Masks Still Required for Immediate Future at Walt Disney World Amid Florida Moving Into Phase 3 of Reopening
Since Walt Disney World reopened, masks have been required in addition to other social distancing guidelines and health and safety protocols. However, on Friday, the Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis issued an executive order declaring that the state would begin Phase 3 of reopening which would mean the suspension of mask mandates as well as no limits on restaurant and theme park capacity. Since then, many have wonder what that would mean for Walt Disney World and other theme parks.

For now, Governor DeSantis’ Phase 3 executive order has no impact on guidelines and protocols in place right now at Walt Disney World including the requirement of masks. With that being said, Disney has also stated they will be reviewing the state’s new guidelines to see what that means for their business.
Here is the official statement from Disney:
We received the Governor’s executive order and are evaluating it to determine what it may mean for our business. We are not making any immediate changes. As a reminder, face coverings are still required at Walt Disney World Resort.
While the statement addresses that masks will still be required at Walt Disney World for the immediate future, it does not address if the Florida Theme Park giant will increase capacity at restaurants or at their four theme parks in general.
It is also important to note that even though Phase 3 of Florida reopening waves the requirement of masks, local governments still have mandates including Orange County where the majority of Walt Disney World is located.

When the Walt Disney World Theme Parks reopened back in July, crowds were drastically lower than what we have become accustomed to. However, since then, especially in recent weeks, those crowds have begun to increase. Disney does not confirm park capacity numbers and has not addressed if additional capacity has been added since reopening.
What do you think about Florida going into Phase 3 of reopening and Walt Disney World still requiring masks? Does a mask requirement make a visit to the Parks more or less likely? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

We feel safe enough to go to WDW with the current protocols in place. FL numbers are still high & if WDW changes prior to those numbers being 1% we won’t be going back. Hope they continue to put the cast members & guests safety FIRST!
