Guests Are Currently Unable To Make Reservations On Disney World’s Website
We are getting a lot of reports from those visiting the Walt Disney World website that the site is not currently accepting reservations of any sort including hotel, ticket and dining packages.
We are aware of the fact that reservations appear to be disabled at the moment and believe this is keeping with Disney’s announcement yesterday that they are working toward a phased reopening of the parks.
CEO of the Walt Disney Company Bob Chapek has been speaking to the media over the past few days to outline changes Disney will be making to ensure guest safety when the parks do re-open beginning July 11th. There are two very important factors here that could have an impact on reservations being down.
- There will be an attendance cap on reservations with the theme parks initially opening at 20-30% attendance
- Disney is implementing a NEW reservation system to better monitor crowd levels and help ensure social distancing.
We also reported earlier today that Disney World will be requiring everyone visiting the park to have a reservation. This means that they may be pausing any new reservations in order to accommodate package holders, DVC members and pass holders.
Not let’s take a closer look at whats going on with the Disney World website:
Room Reservations & Packages: The image above shows that guests are currently not able to see availability or room pricing on the site.
As several people also pointed out on Twitter, Disney has also altered the wording of the re-opening statement that appears on the website. Previously the site included Walt Disney World Resorts in the list of businesses reopening in July. However, the wording has since been removed.
Tickets: Those looking to purchase tickets on the site are not taken to ticketed but instead are being redirected to the page above with cancellation and refund policies.
Dining Reservations: Those looking to book restaurants using the Disney system are also encountering this message at the top of the booking page.
So What Does It All Mean?
It means that we are at a time of immense change just now. We know that Disney is revamping their reservation system, capping guests and prioritizing participants in the phased reopening. They are also suspending new bookings.
It means that Disney has hit a giant PAUSE while working on their reopening strategy.
Beyond that, we’re waiting for Disney to release OFFICIAL word on what happens to exist and new reservations going forward. In the meantime, you can keep checking in with MickeyBlog and we promise to keep you posted as soon as we know more!
