Reservations Will Be Required When Walt Disney World Reopens
According to a recent piece on WESH, Walt Disney World officials say that guests will need to obtain a reservation for park entry when the theme parks re-open in July. This is part of the theme parks’ phased reopening plans which were announced during the Orange County Economic Task Force meeting yesterday.
According to the report, the new system is integral to making sure that the park stays within its limited capacity. For now, all ticket sales to the theme parks have been halted as have reservations at Walt Disney World’s resort hotels. The only exception or members of Disney’s timeshare program (Disney Vacation Club) which can make reservations with dates starting June 22nd.
A spokesperson for Disney said that the reservation requirement decision was made to allow the parks to honor existing tickets and reservations.
Annual Passholders and existing ticket holders will be able to make reservation requestions through a phased process before sales open up to the general public. We expect Disney to release further details regarding this policy soon.
It should be remembered that in order to maintain social distancing guidelines, the Walt Disney World theme parks are only expected to open at 20-30% attendance. As a result, reservations will naturally need to be limited.
As we reported here yesterday at MickeyBlog, Disney plans to reopen the theme parks in phases with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom opening on July 11th and Epcot and Hollywood Studios opening on July 15th. The plans were unanimously approved by the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force including Mayor Jerry Demings. All that’s needed now is the approval of Governor Ron DeSantis.
As part of the reopening announcement, Disney outlined several measures that will be put in place to ensure guest safety. This includes all guests being required to wear facemasks, temperature checks, increased hand sanitation procedures and social distancing in restaurants, shops and queues.
Though many of the intricacies regarding the reopening of Walt Disney World remain unknown. Guests are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog and we’ll keep you posted as and when new info is released.

When Uk guests are able to visit again how will the reservation system work if we buy our tickets as part of a package ?
Hi Suzanne!
Thanks for your question. The answer is that we just don’t know as of yet. We suspect guests with Walt Disney World vacation packages staying onsite at an official Walt Disney World resort will be given priority. However, this could depend on many factors including your dates of travel. We’ll try to update everyone as soon as we know more about the impact these policies will have on all guests.
