File under: Sad news.
Earlier this week, Newsweek and other outlets reported:
Florida Man Known as Captain Jack Sparrow Lookalike Found Dead In Water
A Florida man who was known for impersonating Captain Jack Sparrow from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean film series has been found dead after embarking on a paddleboard trip.
The body of Joshua Grant Hensley, 43, was found in Central Florida’s Crystal River Bay on Monday, the Miami Herald reports.
Hensley was known to friends and family as “Captain Jack,” and was often seen dressed as the eccentric fictional character made famous by Johnny Depp.

People.com picked up the story, as well.
[A] spokesperson said park rangers grew concerned on Sunday evening and decided to contact the sheriff’s office when they noticed Hensley’s car had stayed in the Hunter Springs parking lot overnight.
Authorities believe Hensley, who was dressed in his Captain Jack Sparrow outfit at the time of his disappearance, was heading to Shell Island to watch the sunset but have not found any evidence indicating that he made it to his alleged destination.
They did, however, find Hensley’s paddleboard on Monday in King’s Bay near Pete’s Pier.
A sad story, indeed. Community members are devastated:
