Disney World Emailing All Annual Passholders Regarding Policy Updates
On Friday, we here at MickeyBlog let you know about a recent update to Disney World’s Annual Pass policy amid the COVID-19 shutdown. Disney announced just before the weekend that they would suspend all monthly payments on Annual Passes for Florida Residents. In addition, those paying annually could either have their expiration date extending or get a refund for the dates the park is shut.
Passholders are being emailed directly by Disney. Here’s a look at what’s being sent:
According to Disney, ALL passholders are being emailed directly by the company to be made aware of what the new Annual Pass policies are. As you can see from the information above, all Disney annual passholders paying monthly are having their payments suspended during the shutdown. The company is also offering to refund monthly passholders for any payments automatically taken during the shutdown.
For those paying annually, Disney World is offering to either extend annual passes or to offer a refund for the dates not used. These updates to the policies were made after Disney received ever-growing backlash from Annual Passholders.
When the COVID-19 closure was first announced last month, Disney World was holding firm to the fact that they would continue to charge monthly annual passholders and would not be offering refunds on Annual Passes.
However, this policy continued to gain increased negative attention from theme park-goers as well as the media with many arguing it was an unhelpful strategy during a time where many are unemployed and worrying about making mortgage and utility payments.
As we’ve previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Walt Disney World along with other Disney-theme parks worldwide have closed their gates due to the Coronavirus. Disney’s official stances is that the parks are closed indefinitely with no opening date given.
