Best Disney Links for October 2019
As usual, The Walt Disney Company’s received all sorts of media attention this week. You couldn’t possibly have kept up with all of it, but that’s okay! We did it for you! Here are the best Disney links for October of 2019.
The Resistance Will Rise
Both coasts have hosted a Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for a while now. Still, all Disney fans know that the most impressive attraction at the themed land isn’t open yet. Disney’s Hollywood Studios will introduce its version in December, while Disneyland will add its ride in January of 2020.
Park planners initially intended for this attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, to debut with the rest of Batuu. Alas, the technical challenges delayed the unprecedented, ambitious ride.
Recently, Disney has pulled back the curtains and showed what future park guests can expect from the attraction. Rise of the Resistance will place riders in the middle of a climactic showdown between The First Order and the good guys. The ride will feature four different ride systems, and you’ll even switch floors at one point!
Whether you love Star Wars or just Disney, you’ll want to read both of those articles. They’ll enlighten you on both ride details and the history of Scott Trowbridge, the person in charge of the project.
While we’re on the subject of Star Wars, let’s address the elephant in the living room. Disney’s still struggling with the Chinese market. As MickeyBlog has discussed a few times, the Holy Trilogy never received a release in China during its original theatrical run. The prequels didn’t, either.
Disney wants to maximize the earning potential of the ninth movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The way that global box office works today, Disney needs China desperately. Ergo, the company’s taken some unusual steps to hook Chinese customers on all things Jedi.
Cashing in on Your Disney Fandom
Hey, I’m not telling you how to live your life, but I have a suggestion that could prove profitable. When’s the last time that you cataloged your Disney collectibles? You might want to take a look. This article will describe how to tell whether you’re sitting on a gold mine.
Disney collectibles have appreciated dramatically in recent years. Some trinkets that you picked up a long time ago may offer more value to a collector than they do to you. Yes, you could cash in some knickknacks for a quick buck.
Now, I understand that you may feel strongly attached to some items. However, if you’re anything like me, you’ve bought so many Disney collectibles over the years that only a few have a special value to you. The rest blend together, at least to me. Presuming that you feel similarly, take stock of what you’ve got in the back of your bookshelf or, even better, your closets.
While I’m trying to make you holiday cash, let me add a second suggestion. You should apply for a Disney dream job. No, you wouldn’t work directly for Disney. Instead, Reviews.org would pay you $1,000 to watch 30 Disney movies during the first 30 days of Disney+. Hey, you might do that anyway! You might as well try to mitigate the cost by getting someone to pay you for it, right?!
Speaking of the Holidays
Have you ever thought about spending the holidays at sea? It’s not the craziest idea for a lot of people. While some of us are blessed with ideal family settings during the holidays, others get stressed at the thought of uncomfortable conversations at the dinner table.
Anyone who falls into the latter category has options. You could take a Disney Cruise! Before you dismiss the idea, let me point out a couple of huge positives. For starters, you’d receive splendid treatment during your cruise. Disney frequently wins awards for its customer service and cruise amenities.
Also, and possibly more importantly, you’ll have a decent excuse to skip those awkward family dinners! You can tell them that you found a great deal on a Disney Cruise! Who could possibly blame you for that? Conveniently, Travel Pulse even posted a few suggestions for celebrating the holidays on Disney Cruises!
Of course, the best way to find a great deal is through a travel agent. Contact an expert at MickeyTravels. These gifted professionals will score you the best possible price on a holiday cruise. You’ll thank them every time you sit by the pool and sip a boat drink.
More Holiday Stuff!
While we’re on the subject of the holidays, I’m about to alienate all of you who adore Halloween. Sure, if you’re like my wife, you’re relishing in the spooky decorations and planning the perfect Halloween costume. But if you’re like me, you’ve skipped straight to Christmas.
Oh, I’m not joking. I’ve already finished more than 80 percent of my Christmas shopping. However, I understand that not everyone operates at my accelerated shopping pace. Those of you who haven’t started yet still have plenty of time! And this link will identify the best Disney toys available this holiday season.
While you’re shopping, you might as well prep for holiday clothes. Disney’s got you covered, too. They’re selling these adorable Ugly Yuletide Sweaters. I’m going to wind up wearing that Stitch one whether I want it or not.
What’s that? Are you not ready to skip Halloween? Fine. I’ve got an article for you, too. Here are a bunch of Disney Halloween holiday specials. I’m not talking about the famous ones, either. A lot of these are super-obscure.
Pop Culture Miscellany
While we’re on the subject of Disney lists, here’s one about the greatest Disney friendships ever. The film in second place was robbed! I’ll die on this hill!
Speaking of Disney movies, here’s a fascinating article about the 2019 remake of The Lion King. It explains the strange way that Disney’s Animal Kingdom played a significant factor in the development of the live-action flick.
For completionists, I’ve got something even better! Have you wondered what whether some of these rumored Disney+ films are even real? Well, they are, and Disney can prove it. Presuming that you have three hours and 18 minutes to kill, the video above shows roughly 15 seconds of all Disney+ movies!
I actually did the math on this because I’m that kind of nerd. This video should highlight almost 800 movies at 15 seconds each! Oh, and I’m here to tell you that Blackbeard’s Ghost is real. Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette deserved so much better than that. What blows my mind is that two-time Academy Award winner Peter Ustinov somehow got talked into playing Blackbeard.
If you’re interested in the business aspects of Disney+, The Hollywood Reporter published this article. In it, an interviewer asks Robert Iger to add some color about his expectations for the fledgling service. This deep dive into the business of streaming is something that detail-oriented Disney fans will adore.
Finally, let’s close this month’s links with a couple of fabulous photosets. Here’s a series of Indian women dressed as Disney characters. My vote goes to Mother Gothel, although Tinkerbell wears the coolest dress. Agree or disagree?
Once you’re done with that, the Orlando Sentinel has compiled a series of 30 celebrity photos. Specifically, they’re celebrities visiting Walt Disney World. The Serena Williams pics, in particular, are OUTstanding.
