THIS JUST IN! Introducing Tenaya Spa at the Grand Californian!
Your visit to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa at Disneyland Resort just got a whole lot more exciting! Today, Disney revealed some of the exciting details regarding the opening of Tenaya Stone Spa. This boutique spa will officially open on September 16, 2021.

The entire spa was inspired by the spirit of nature which is perfectly in keeping with the rustic feel and California heritage celebrated by this property! As a matter of fact the name Tenaya (pronounced ten-eye-a) can be interpreted as “to dream” in Yosemite Valley culture. Dawn Jackson, a Native American Cultural Advisor even worked on the project as an Imagineer.
Jackson said of the experience, “For modern-day travelers seeking a respite to dream and recharge, the spa provides an opportunity to relax into a dream-like state, a reverie of being lost in one’s thoughts, regaining balance within themselves.”
On offer will be an array of awesome spa services including body treatments, massage and salon services. All of this will be done within an impressive 6,000 square foot facility. Designed by Disney’s Imagineers this area perfectly captures the spirit of nature, cultures of Californian and the Craftsman-style architecture found at the resort.
Katrina Mosher of Disneyland Imagineering said of the project, “We drew inspiration from the foundation of the hotel, literally in the stones, the earth, and the trees, and figuratively in the promise of a place to relax and to dream.”
Inside guests will find eight treatment rooms. Two of these are served for couples massage. There’s also four manicure/pedicure chairs, a relaxation lounge, men’s and women’s changing rooms and a retail boutique.
Now here’s a closer look at some of the incredible treatments guests will be able to enjoy:
Soothing Massages:
- Soothing River Stone Massages – On offer will be a wide range of massage therapies including the customized Tenaya Signature Massage and the Tenaya River Stone Massage. Both of these experiences incorporate river stones to help soothe and relax the body. Other highlights include the Head, Hands & Feet With Heart Massage or the side-by-side Tenaya Couples Massage.
- Aromatherapy Massage – Experience nothing short of pure bliss with this massage that incorporates plant-based aromas made from essential oils infused with plant gem elixirs and flower essence. The Aromatherapy Massage is also pure bliss, using plant-based aromas made from essential oils infused with gem elixirs and flower essences. The Herbal Poultice Massage uses warmed poultices designed to melt away muscle tension by combining pressure with steamed compresses of wild crafted herbs. The Mother To Be Massage uses pre-natal techniques, organic products and pre-natal cushions designed to create comfort for the expecting mommy in mind.
- Herbal Body Treatments- The Purity & Refresh Body Treatment is perfect for those looking to relax and comes complete with a warm milk nectar wrap, sea salt exfoliation treated and a purifying mud wrap! Talk about an awesome ritual. There’s also the Wild Honey and Mud Body Renewal Four-Step treatment. It includes red-clay and micro-pumice exfoliation, peat mud nutrient mask, fruit serum and an oil message. Next up is the nourishing avocado body treatment which features red-clay and micro-pumice exfoliation, a peat mud nutrient mask, fruit serum and an oil message.
Foot Treatments:
- Food Soak – Recover for all of those miles that you walked with a soothing foot soak and lower leg message by booking your Step in Time Foot Massage Treatment. There’s also the Mindful Traveler Food Treatment which features an exfoliating food soak and energizing massage which is perfect for circulation and lower leg muscle stress. Lastly is the Avocado Lime & Honey Foot Treatment where feet are relaxed and nourished through exfoliation, a hydrating avocado butter mask, honey-based fruit serum and skin-glistening agave nectar oil.
Salon Services
Add a heaping spoonful of pixie dust to your theme park look with manicures and pedicures designed to make you look fabulous when strolling around Disneyland.
