BREAKING NEWS: Minnie Vans are Back for Select Lyft Users
Move over monorail, bye-bye friendship boats. One of our favorite Disney modes of transportation has made a comeback…the Minnie Vans are back! Our MickeyBlogger Greg was at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa this morning to go for a ride on the vans which guests can book via the Lyft app.
According to Greg, the Minnie Vans aren’t returning for all guests until June 29, 2022.
However, as a special perk for select LYFT users, about 50% of those with existing accounts have the option to select a Minnie Van as a soft opening of sorts!
It should be noted that the service can be booked through the app but is only available with arrival and departure points within Walt Disney World Resort. This DOES NOT include the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin properties.
There is no going off property right now (this includes airport transfers.)
No word yet on if routes will be expanded when the service officially opens on June 29th. We suspect that the soft opening is being used as a training opportunity for new drivers hence the limitations.
When the service officially launches on the 29th, Walt Disney World Resort guests have a speedy alternative when it comes to getting around on property. Whether you’re heading to a resort for a dining reservation or just want to get back to your resort quickly after a day at the parks, Minnie Vans can be a huge help.
I’ve used the Minnie Van service before when I was running late for dining reservations or missed a bus to the theme parks and its nice to have an additional paid-for transportation option at your fingertips!
If you think you’ll be using a Minnie Van during your visit, it pays to download the app and set up your account ahead of time.
Using the service is simple! Simply open up the LYFT app while on Disney World property.
The system will recognize your location and give you the option to book a Minnie Van.
You’ll then be able to track your vehicle in real time when its on its way to you!
Guests should note that you are able to select an Accessible Minnie Van for those with special requirements.
The Lyft app will let you know the total cost of the journey and you can pay for the service using the app.
All LYFT vehicles also come with two complimentary child seats which are required for those 6 years of age and under!
The service is available from 6:30 am to 12;30 am daily.
It is such a joy to see these back at the Resort and is yet another sign that things at Disney World are slowly returning back to normal!
We’ll have more details for you later this month on the official opening.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for further Walt Disney World news and updates. We’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week.
