VIDEO: Meeting the Pride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The day has finally arrived Lion King fans! The new live-action version of Disney’s “The Lion King” is now open at theaters across the country. And for those visiting Walt Disney World, Simba, Nala and the crew aren’t the only lions you’ll find. To celebrate all things ROARsome, we thought we’d introduce you to a few of Disney’s other lion friends!
Disney has just released a new video “Meet Our Pride” featuring the proud felines of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Watch as Lori, one of the Animal Care experts at the theme park as she explains how her team studies every facet of a lion’s behavior.
The premiere of “The Lion King” is a great way to raise awareness regarding Disney’s conservation efforts and an attempt to grow the population of lions in the world through their “Protect the Pride” campaign. Guests have the unique opportunity to get involved while visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For every guest who rides the Kiliminjaro Safaris from July 19 – July 25, the Disney Conservation fund will donate $2 (up to $350,000) to the Wildlife Conservation Networks Lion Recovery Fund. The goal of this initiative is to help double the number of lions found across Africa by 2050.
