As we approach Easter Weekend, you may be wondering why we here at MickeyBlog have already set our sights on Christmas! Not only has Disney World just released tickets for the ever-popular Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party but this also a great time to start planning your destination Christmas to ensure that you get the party tickets, dining reservations and FastPasses that you want! Therefore it’s not surprising that this is one of the most popular times of year for families to start planning ahead to the end of 2019. With this in mind, many of my current clients are wondering what Disney resorts are best to stay at during the holiday season. So we’ve compiled this list for you of 6 of our favorite resorts to stay at during Christmas.
1. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
We are going to start with one of our favorite places to stay at Walt Disney World during the holiday season. Each December, this deluxe resort undergoes a magical holiday transformation filled with rustic charm. From the cozy fire roaring in the giant lobby fireplace to the towering treat rising to the rafters to the wonderful smell of rustic pine that greets you when you walk through the resort, Wilderness Lodge was built for Christmas! Another fantastic perk of a stay here is that Wilderness Lodge is just a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom where Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parties are held making it a breeze to get to and from these festive soirees.
2. Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort
The vintage sea-side feel of this Epcot resort lends itself perfectly to the Holiday Season. From the giant Christmas Carousel gingerbread display in the lobby of the Beach Club to the fun Christmas Village on display at the Yacht Club these sister resorts pack a lot of Christmas charm. Located between Hollywood Studios and Epcot, these properties are also the perfect stomping grounds for those looking to celebrate the season across all four Disney theme parks. You are just a short walk or boat ride away from Epcot where you can enjoy the Festival of the Holidays and the magical Candlelight Processional. Guests will also be a short boat ride from Hollywood Studios where you can be a part of Galaxy’s Edge first Christmas Season.
3. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
There’s one thing that makes Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort a stand-out place to stay over the holidays and that’s the sense of community. Though a stay at Fort Wilderness makes you feel like you’re in a rustic winter wonderland, you’re actually only a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom making it a perfect spot for those planning on attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
4. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
For those looking for the ultimate Walt Disney World Christmas getaway look no further than a stay at the Grand Dame of Disney resorts! Each Christmas Season, this deluxe property gets a massive Victorian Christmas makeover complete with a life-sized gingerbread house, towering Christmas tree and stunning garlands. We guarantee that you’ll fall in love with the rustic interior of Jambo House all decorated for the holidays. From the dazzling lights and beautiful garlands to the animal-themed Christmas trees, Animal Kingdom Lodge during the holiday season is nothing short of breathtaking. Couple this with the ability to watch giraffes and zebras stroll past your resort room while you sip hot cocoa from the balcony or enjoy a holiday tipple while lounging in the sun near a flamboyance of flamingoes and you’ll soon realize there something to be said for this exotic yuletide destination!
6. Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Not only is the Contemporary Resort on Disney World’s monorail line meaning quick access to all the festival fun at Magic Kingdom and Epcot but it also boasts the tallest Christmas Tree in all of Walt Disney World. Each year the massive lobby is also decorated with delightful edible-displays including a Mary Blair-style holiday creation. The closest resort to the Magic Kingdom you also have the luxury of watching the theme parks spectacular Christmas-themed fireworks display from the comfort of your resort room or from the private viewing deck atop the resort at the California Grill!
