Marvel Studios Shakes Up Its Release Schedule
One week after laying out its future at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios has updated its upcoming release schedule.
Avengers: Doomsday has officially replaced Avengers: The Kang Dynasty as Marvel’s May 1, 2026 film. While it had been assumed that Marvel still planned to release the fifth Avengers film in that release slot, we now have confirmation.
Additionally, both The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts* have had their names updated on the schedule.
An Unnamed Project Has Been Removed From 2026
Perhaps more interestingly, Marvel has removed an untitled film from the July 24, 2026 slot. The move is perhaps not surprising, as Disney CEO Bob Iger has previously stated that Kevin Feige’s studio will release two to three films a year. Currently, in addition to Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel is slated to release films on February 13, 2026, and November 6, 2026. Those films have yet to be revealed.
Candidates for the 2026 slots would seemingly include a potential Spider-Man 4, Shang-Chi 2, or Doctor Strange 3.
‘Blade’ Remains Scheduled For 2025
Finally, and perhaps most notably, Mahershala Ali’s Blade was not removed from its November 7, 2025, release date. As we have reported before, Marvel is still determined to get the film made despite its disastrous production so far.
Still, with Marvel now looking for a new director for the film and the script yet to be finalized, it is hard to imagine that Blade will hit theaters next year.
With Marvel set to have a significant presence at this week’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, it is possible that more announcements could be on the horizon.
For now, however, fans will have to wait and see.
