Disney Releases Public Statement Regarding Disney+ Launch Issues
The good news for Disney-lovers and streaming fans is that Disney+ is up and running, the bad news is that it wasn’t without its fair share of hiccups!
Disney’s foray into digital streaming went live around 6 am EST this morning (November 12th) but according to a recent piece in the Hollywood Reporter, many users started receiving error messages around 7am.
Fans were quick to take to twitter to announce their difficulties in signing in:

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Downdetector.com showed 6,900 reports of problems with the service around 7:30 a.m. ET and slightly more than 7,000 later before problem reports dropped off. Users mentioned problems signing up, logging in and streaming. Downdetector.com’s map showed problems in the U.S., parts of Canada and the Netherlands.
Another glitch mentioned is that some U.S. users were allowed to purchase Disney+ on their computer, but once paid for, the streaming service would not load on smart TVs or on the PlayStation app. An error icon would appear showing Mickey Mouse and his dog, Pluto, in space outfits. It would then force users to exit the service.
This forced Disney+ to release an official statement at 7 am PT.
The demand for #DisneyPlus has exceeded our highest expectations. We are so pleased you’re excited to watch all your favorites and are working quickly to resolve any current issues. We appreciate your patience.

As Disney continues to work through errors, a common complaint among current users is long load times. However, one Twitter user puts it in perspective:
I’m thinking that #disneyplus is running kind of slow and then I remember who is accessing it today. pic.twitter.com/yFfF2qDNJq

Launching a new streaming network is no minor feat. Disney Plus launched earlier this morning in the U.S., Canada and The Netherlands and is offering current subscribers access to over 500 films and 7,500 television episodes!
