Avengers Assemble to Initialize Incredible New Campus
“Avengers Assemble!” Never was there a truer call to action than tonight at Disney California Adventure Park for the official activation of the absolutely incredible new land, Avengers Campus.
Thankfully for those of us at home, the star-studded festivities streamed live on Disney Parks Blog.
“To me, it’s a dream, a dream that can make this world a better place,” said Stark Industries CEO Howard Stark, kicking off the festivities with a moving statement that defines the mission of the campus.
Chariman, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro began the awe-inspiring celebration of both a return to relative normalcy and the official opening of the campus on the fourth. The land, he said, hoped to inpsire people young and old to change the world.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek spoke specifically about the number of imagineers and cast members responsible for bringing the area to life in such a remarkable way.
“This land is incredible, imaginative, and truly immersive. If you have ever dreamed of being a super hero, and who of us hasn’t, this is the place for you,” Chapek said.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, largely responsible for the story lines that propelled the Marvel Cinematic Universe to where it is today, embodied the fan in all of us.
“Anybody who has spent any amount of time with me knows that I am huge, gigantic, collosal fan of all of the Disney parks. Visiting the parks is what I did when I was a kid. It’s what I do as an adult now with my parents and with my children. That’s what family time is all about for me. So, as a fan, I look around here tonight, and I’m pinching myself,” Feige said.
Marvel Stars Joined the Ceremony
A host of MCU stars joined the festivities both in person and virtually, including Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd, who highlighted the cast members at PYM Test Kitchen.
Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Paul Bettany (Vision), and Brie Larsen (Captain Marvel), all made virtual appearances.
John Favreau, the director of the original Marvel film, “Iron Man” in 2008, also found himself on the balcony of Avengers Headquarters to present Iron Man himself.
Captain America actor Anthony Mackie finished off the roll call portion of the presentation. He proudly commented on how important it was for kids to have a moment where “kids of all races can see a part of themselves in Captian America.”
Mackie also officially presented Captain America with his all-important shield. He will certainly need that if he is to help train the next generation of Avengers at the new headquarters on campus when they visit the immersive land.
Spider-Man quite literally swung in to the affair using brand-new technology that will also allow him to appear levitating above buildings throughout the day at the campus. Luckily, he was only 30 seconds late, according to his assistant.
Many of these Avengers will make unplanned appearances throughout the day to bring the superheroes stories that we all know and love to life for guests.
The Actual Initiation
To finalize the initialization process, Advanced Artificial Intelligence Assistant Friday verbally initiliazed the arc reactor.
Once all systems went online, the Tony-Stark creation officially initiated Avengers Campus to an enormous blast of fireworks that erupted over the Avengers Headquarters with Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout towering behind at the edge of the new land.
Avengers Campus officially opens to the public on Friday, June 4th. To learn more about all of the details, including where to get your own Spider-Bot, check out all of the latest news on MickeyBlog.
