‘The Mandalorian’ Receives Two Guild Award Nominations
The Mandalorian continues to receive some much-deserved award season attention for the outstanding work Lucasfilm and the Disney team have done on the series the second season.
News has made the rounds this morning that the studio has received two nominations in an area that does not surprise many long-time fans of the Star Wars universe; as the franchise has always held in high esteem their ability to bring to life what could do often only be imagined.
The award nominations come by way of the Make-up Artists and Hair Stylist Guild. As the name suggests, the collective brings together those working in the area of makeup, hair styling, and some overall practical effects in the area of film and television.
The Mandalorian had been announced as nominated for the award for Best Period and/or Character Makeup for a Television Series, Mini-Series or New Media and Best Special Make-Up Effects for a Television Series, Mini-Series or New Media.
These nominations, as stated above, do not come as a surprise; The Mandalorian team has been hard at work since the first episode to deliver a truly incredible visual experience, packed with aliens created through practical effects that completely immerse the viewer.
There is little argument that the Best Period and/or Character Makeup award comes due to the series’ outstanding work in bringing to life the beloved former Jedi, Ahsoka Tano.
Ahsoka, a character of a somewhat elaborate alien race, and her transition to the realm of live-action was not a simple task.
Massive horns and patterned skin left the Lucasfilm team with their work cut out for them, and they most certainly delivered an incredible end result. A result that is undeniably worthy of awards consideration.
