Noah Hawley Gives an Update on His ‘Alien’ Streaming Series
With the release of Alien: Romulus, Disney is set to relaunch the Alien franchise in a big way.
Directed by Fede Alvarez, the upcoming Alien film was initially slated for Hulu release before Disney and 20th Century Studios decided to give the film a theatrical release.

In addition to Romulus, there is also an Alien streaming series on the way from director Noah Hawley.
The Series Will Be Set Before ‘Alien’
Set three decades before the events of the original Alien, the series will star Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, and Adarsh Gourav.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Hawley revealed that he initially hoped that Ridley Scott would be involved in the series. In the end, however, the filmmaker was simply too busy.

“In the four years it’s taken me to launch this show, he’s made how many movies?” Hawley explained.
What Fans Can Expect
So, what can fans expect from the upcoming series?
“What I said to Ridley is ‘I’m adapting your movie,’” says Hawley, “I had to make a decision — retro futurism or Prometheus? And I chose retro-futurism. When I close my eyes and you say Alien to me, I see that green Ascii text. You know, I hear that sound. I see that keyboard with the weird Egyptian ruins on it. I see those hallways.”

According to Hawley, filming on Alien has concluded, though production is still underway. Hulu is reportedly shooting for a 2025 release for the series.
