PHOTOS: Construction Continues at Flex Space in EPCOT
For the past several years, EPCOT has been under some seriously heavy construction.
From the addition of Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana to the upcoming opening of CommuniCore Hall, the park has spent a significant amount of time encased in scrim and construction walls.
Luckily, construction has FINALLY wound down in many areas of the park, and guests are now able to enjoy new areas like the beautiful World Celebration Gardens.
Of course, construction never truly ends at Disney World and EPCOT is no exception.
While EPCOT guests may notice less construction than before, the work goes on in the flex space near EPCOT’s Imagination! pavilion.
Over the past few months, we’ve watched as construction crews installed lighting, fencing, paving, and other elements around the area, which is expected to function as a “flex space.”
On a recent visit to EPCOT, our team spotted a series of new poles around the paved area.
Let’s check it out!
Construction Continues at EPCOT’s Upcoming Flex Space
When the new flex space finally opens to guests, it’s likely to function as a seating area for hungry park-goers during EPCOT’s various festivals. If you’re tired of eating on top of trash cans, the new flex space is a dream come true!
Even better? It’s looking like the area may even provide some much-needed shade from that hot Florida sun.
This week, construction crews installed a series of white poles around the area.
The poles are partially obscured by plastic wrap at the moment, but we’re guessing they’ll eventually support some type of roof or awning that will provide a nice reprieve from the heat.
We can’t be sure what Disney has in store for the area, but we can’t wait to find out!
