ESPN Takes Home Eight Awards at the 2024 Sports Emmys
ESPN once again emerged as the big winner following last night’s Annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports took home eight awards, bringing their total to 254 Sports Emmys in their 37 years of eligibility.
Last year’s Toy Story Funday Football on ESPN+ and Disney+ was awarded the win for Outstanding Studio or Production Design/Art Direction, The George Wensel Technical Achievement Award, and Outstanding Graphic Design- Event/Show.
The special broadcast during the NFL’s Week 4 transported the game between the Atlanta Falcons and the Jacksonville Jaguars into Andy’s Room from Toy Story.
ESPN’s Other Winners
For the third consecutive year, ESPN’s Monday Night Football took home the top prize in the Outstanding Live Series category. This year’s winner was Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli. It was ESPN’s eighth win in the category.
ESPN’s College GameDay also took home its ninth Emmy for Outstanding Studio Show. Overall, the series has won 14 Sports Emmys.
Other winners for ESPN included Mike Breen, who was recognized as Outstanding Personality/ Play-by-Play for the third year in a row, and the network’s NFL Draft coverage, which was awarded Outstanding Technical Team- Studio.
Finally, David Roberts (ESPN head of event and studio production) and Reneta Sedzimir (ESPN senior concept artist ) were named to the inaugural class of the NATAS Silver Circle honor society.
According to the Academy, “Members are honored for their distinguished service within the television industry, setting standards for achievement, mentoring, leadership and professional accolades. They represent the best and brightest in the industry.”
