Marvel’s Head of Animation Calls ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ “Some of the Best Animation We’ve Done”
While Marvel has struggled with live-action content over the last couple of years, the studio has also found itself in the middle of an animation renaissance.
Following the massive success that was What If…?, Marvel Animation rolled out X-Men ’97 earlier this year and found themselves with another hit on their hands.
With Season 1 of X-Men ’97 coming to an end last week, fans are already starting to look ahead to what Marvel Animation has coming up next.
Two More Animated Series Are on the Way
Aside from Season 2 and 3 of X-Men ’97, Marvel Animation is also set to release two other series.
The first is Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which will focus on Peter Parker’s exploits in high school.
The second series will be the Black Panther spinoff Eyes of Wakanda.
‘Eyes of Wakanda’
Set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the series will tell the story of Wakandan warriors who must venture out into the world.
“Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story,” the official description reads.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Marvel’s Head of Animation, Brad Winderbaum, previewed the upcoming series, calling it “some of the best animation we’ve ever done.”
“Eyes of Wakanda is an MCU show. This is the history of Wakanda as told through the War Dogs, and it is some of the best animation we’ve ever done,” Winderbaum bragged. “Todd Harris is the creator of that one. That’s just such a cool show.”
Interestingly, unlike X-Men ’97, Eyes of Wakanda will be set on the MCU’s sacred timeline.
While the series was initially set to be released in 2024, it now seems like a 2025 debut is more likely.
