This week, the legendary Jenifer Lewis — aka the voice of Mama Odie — met with Disney Imagineering and paid a visit to the incredible Mama Odie animatronic!
You won’t want to miss her hilarious reaction, so let’s check it out!
The Crucial Role of Mama Odie
Best known for her role as Ruby Johnson on ABC’s hit sitcom Black-ish, Jenifer Lewis lent her voice to lovable priestess Mama Odie in Disney’s 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog.

With her trademark sass and undeniable charm, Lewis gave life to the iconic character who helped Tiana and Naveen break the curse that turned them into frogs.
Naturally, Mama Odie will play an important role in the storyline of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!

Previously released concept art shows Mama Odie among a whole bunch of beautiful, glowing lanterns.
Based on the colorful lanterns we can see at the top of the drop, it’s more than likely this scene occurs right before the pivotal moment.
