Jonathan Majors Sentenced to 1 Year of Probation and Counseling After Being Found Guilty of Domestic Assault
The Jonathan Majors domestic violence trial officially came to an end today when the former Marvel star was sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling and probation.
The sentencing was handed down by Judge Michel Gaffey in a lower Manhattan courtroom today. Nearly four months ago, Majors was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault against his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

Sentencing had initially been set for January but was delayed by motions filed by Majors’s legal team. The motions were dismissed last Wednesday.
The Scene in the Courtroom Today
Majors arrived in the courtroom today with his girlfriend, Meagan Good. Jabbari entered the room shortly afterward and delivered a victim impact statement.
“He is not sorry and has not accepted responsibility. And he will do this again. He will hurt another woman. This is a man who believes he’s above the law,” Jabbari said. “I had a career and life and body, all of which he’s damaged.”

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – AUGUST 03: Jonathan Majors and his girlfriend, Meagan Good, flanked by his lawyer Priya Chaudhry (R), arrive at Manhattan Criminal Court for his pre-trial hearing on August 03, 2023.
Majors initially faced four charges of assault and harassment after a March incident involving Jabbari.
How We Got Here
Jabbari testified that she and Majors were driving home to Manhattan on the night in question when she noticed a text message on Majors’ phone that read, “I wish I was kissing you right now.”

After grabbing the phone from Majors’s hands, she alleged that the actor “pulled” and “twisted” her arm to retrieve the device. She also allegedly felt a “hard blow” across her head.
After getting his phone back, Majors ordered the driver to stop the car. When Jabbari tried to follow him out of the vehicle, the actor pushed her back.

“The pain wasn’t registering,” she said. “I was aware there was pain in my body, but I hadn’t registered anything. I’m a dancer. I’ve danced with a broken rib.”
Majors Denied Assaulting Jabbari
Majors, meanwhile, had asserted that he was the victim of assault and, while admitting that he was unfaithful to Jabbari, was adamant that he did not assault her.
“I was reckless with her heart, not with her body,” he said following his conviction. “My hands have never struck a woman, ever.”

After four hours of deliberation, a New York jury disagreed. The actor was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment.
Jabbari Is Still Suing Majors in Civil Court
While Majors will not face jail time for his crime, the actor’s career has seemingly been ruined. Following his conviction, Marvel Studios fired Majors.

Although today’s sentencing will end Majors’s criminal trial, Jabbari announced last month that she was suing the actor in civil court. That litigation has yet to begin.
