Kevin Feige Had Two Conditions Before He Would Greenlight ‘X-Men ’97’
After nearly thirty years of waiting, fans of X-Men: The Animated Series will finally get to see what happens next with the iconic team of mutants when X-Men ’97 arrives on Disney+ on March 20th.
Since the series went off the air in 1997, fans have been clamoring for a revival of the classic X-Men cartoon.

After years of rumors and whispers, Marvel Studios finally put an X-Men: The Animated Series reboot into motion.
Kevin Feige’s Prerequisites For Approving ‘X-Men ’97’
According to producer Brad Winderbaum, when the idea of X-Men ’97 was pitched to Kevin Feige, the Marvel head had two conditions before greenlighting the project.
“Following the success of ‘What If…?,’ when we were able to make more animated shows, [‘X-Men ’97’] was my first idea out of the box,” he explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “And Kevin [Feige] was like, ‘Alright, if we can get the [original] cast and we can get the song, let’s do it. And fortunately, we were able to do that.”

In the end, Feige’s demands were met. X-Men ’97 features the returning talents of Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, and Alison Sealy-Smith. Additionally, the iconic X-Men: The Animated Series theme song will return.
The Adventure Continues Tomorrow!
For those who are unfamiliar with the original X-Men: The Animated Series, the series ended with the X-Men saying goodbye to a dying Charles Xavier.
X-Men ’97 is being set up as a direct continuation of the original series. In the first trailer released for the upcoming show, it appears as if Professor Xavier has passed away. Cyclops and Storm are then tasked with leading the X-Men in his place as the team tries to pick up the pieces.
