‘X-Men ’97’ Gets Retro Trailer Ahead of March 20 Debut
After over 25 years of waiting, fans of X-Men: The Animated Series will soon get to see the iconic mutant team return when X-Men ’97 arrives on Disney+ next week.
The series will pick up where the iconic 90s cartoon ended, with the X-Men bereft of their leader, Professor Charles Xavier, and facing an increasingly hostile world.
According to the show’s synopsis:
“The revival revisits the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and unexpected new future.”
A New Retro Trailer
Ahead of X-Men ’97’s arrival, Marvel has leaned into the nostalgia surrounding the series with a TV Guide poster and now a 90s-tastic teaser trailer.
In the new clip, which plays on a box TV, the narrator warns views that “things are about to get X-treme” in a fun play on the commercials of the 1990s.
“Your favorite Marvelous mutants are back,” the trailer promises, for “10 all-new episodes that will knock you out.”
X-Men ’97 will not only see the return of the classic iteration of Marvel’s iconic mutant team, but it will also see the return of much of the original series’ voice cast, including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith, Chris Potter, Catherine Disher, Adrian Hough, Alyson Court, and Christopher Britton.
