Soarin’ Around the World Returns to EPCOT Without an Update
After some limited-time magic that saw Soarin’ Over California return to EPCOT’s The Land pavilion, the attraction has once again reverted to Soarin’ Around the World.
The original Soarin attraction, Soarin’ Over California, initially ran in EPCOT from 2005 until 2016. It was then updated and transformed into a trip around the world.

As the names of the two attractions suggest, the original Soarin’ took geusts hang gliding over the Sunshine State, where they saw scenes including Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, Malibu, and, of course, Disneyland.

Soarin’ Around the World, meanwhile, takes guests across the globe, flying high above the wonders of the world. Scenes on the updated attraction include The Great Wall of China, The Great Pyramid of Giza, Mount Kilimanjaro, and a finale in EPCOT.

As part of the Disney100 celebration, Disney announced that Soarin’ Over California would return to EPCOT for a limited-time engagement.

Fans who grew up with the original Soarn’ were understandably thrilled to get a chance to soar over California one more time.
Well, as they say, all good things must come to an end. Today, Soarin’ Around the World returned to EPCOT.

While fans of the attraction’s second version are understandably excited, one looming question shrouded Soarin’ Around the World’s return. Would Disney update the finale?
The Finale Has Not Been Updated
The original finale of Soarin’ Around the World ended with guests flying high above EPCOT, stopping in front of Spaceship Earth. Because the film is dated, the old Innoventions buildings are prominently featured, and the Universe of Energy pavilion can be spotted in the distance.

Some had wondered if Disney would choose to update the Soarin’ Around the World finale while the film was not in use.
As it turns out, however, they did not. When riding the attraction today, we saw the same old EPCOT finale as before, complete with Innoventions.

With Soarin’ Around the World now permanently running in The Land, it doesn’t seem like we will get an update anytime soon.
