Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Receives a Carpet Makeover
It’s true that Disney carpets are known for making quite a statement.
No, we’re not talking about those magical carpets over from Agrabah, (although those ones are admittedly pretty cool,) but instead the vast array of fabulous flooring we frolic upon every day here at Walt Disney World!
Because of their impact, those who regularly visit the resort will always be quick to spot any changes made to the (non-flying) carpets of Disney. For instance, when the flooring was swapped inside Main Street Cinema just last year the whole shop seemed to change its vibe, and the most recent rug at Tower Hotel Gifts has made the place feel really quite inviting.

Today, we have reports of a brand-new carpet installation over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Known for its chill vibes, South Pacific-inspired aesthetic, and epic flooring, we couldn’t wait to check it out. Keep scrolling, and let’s see what’s new…

Ooo, fancy. We’re over here in the resort’s main building, majestically named the Great Ceremonial House.
This particular staircase we’re looking at is located over by ‘Ohana restaurant, and you’ll see that it has recently received a makeover in the form of this swanky new flooring!
As you can see from our photos, the carpet is giving all kinds of warmth in washes of reds, oranges, and browns. It’s subtle yet eye-catching, with the colors reminding us of fiery lava rushing down the stairs!
In a non-threatening way, of course.
We love it — what do you think?
On the Other Side of the Island…
Now, while the steps near ‘Ohana have received a facelift (a stairlift?), the stairs on the opposite side are still sporting their same old ‘fit.
While the blending pattern is similar, the shades in this carpet are more gray and brown, offering less of a Polynesian “pop” of color, you could say.
This staircase is on the side of the Moana Mercantile store, and we’ll be keeping a close eye to see whether or not the carpets here get changed to match over the coming weeks. Stay tuned!
Which of the two staircase carpets at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort do you prefer — the older brown, or the new, fiery red?
