In New Video Ludwig Von Drake Encourages Shareholders to Support Disney’s Board Nominees
In its looming battle with activist investor Nelson Petlz, the Walt Disney Company has turned to an unlikely ally- Professor Ludwig Von Drake.
In a new animated video, the famous inventor (and Donald’s uncle) encourages Disney shareholders to vote for the board members that Disney has nominated.
Reusing animation from both Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color and the House of Mouse (still not on Disney+), Ludwig and the video’s unseen narrator explain to shareholders how to vote.
“Do Not Vote For the Trian or Blackwells’ Nominees”
Throughout the video it is made clear that shareholders are to vote for Disney’s nominees using the “white card”, and not Trian or Blackwells’ nominees.
Other reused animation in the short video comes from Alice in Wonderland, A Goofy Movie, Hercules The Sword in the Stone, and the Adventures in Music series.
“Remember, it’s important you vote only for Disney’s 12 nominees using the white proxy card. Do not vote for the Trian Group or Blackwells’ nominees,” the video states. “Voting this year is critical, no matter how many or how few shares you may own.”
A Looming Battle
Voting for shareholders must be submitted before 11:59 pm on April 2, 2024, however in the video, Disney encouraged shareholders to vote “as soon as possible”.
“Remember, it’s important you vote only for Disney’s 12 nominees using the white proxy card. Do not vote for the Trian Group or Blackwell’s nominees,” the repeats.
With Disney’s annual meeting less than two months away, Disney is clearly bringing out the big guns in its battle with Peltz.
