Disney+ Officially Launches on the Apple Vision Pro
The Walt Disney Company is continuing to push the boundaries of storytelling with the official launch of Disney+ on the Apple Vision Pro.
Disney+ subscribers who own the futuristic Apple headset can now stream their favorite shows and movies in a new way, completely transforming their space into Disney landscapes.
“Disney stands out in the media industry because we’re a company that sits at the intersection of groundbreaking technology with unparalleled creativity,” said Aaron LaBerge, President & CTO, Disney Entertainment & ESPN. “Now, with Apple Vision Pro, we’re able to bring the experience with our stories into a whole new realm of immersion.”
Four Interactive “Environments”
Viewers can now transform their space into one of four Disney+ environments, which include animations, sounds, and Easter eggs!
The four environments will include the Disney+ Theater, which was inspired by the historic El Capitan Theatre, the Scare Floor from Monsters Inc., Avengers Tower overlooking Manhattan, and the cockpit of Luke Skywalker’s land speeder, which will face a sunset on Tatooine.
“We’re so excited about the new frontiers of storytelling that platforms like Vision Pro will open to us,” said Jamie Voris, EVP and CTO at The Walt Disney Studios. “Spatial computing will allow us to bring our characters and stories to life in ways that were previously impossible – taking you to amazing places or enabling you to experience unbelievable things, all while bringing you closer to the people you care about.”
“Disney and Apple have a decades-long history of close partnership, and this collaboration has been an extraordinary example of what’s possible when the best and brightest minds come together, all in service of great storytelling.”
42 3D Films Are Available
In addition to the landscapes, Disney+ subscribers can watch 42 films in 3D through their Apple Vision Pro. These titles include Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther, Inside Out, and The Lion King (2019).
Users who previously purchased 3D versions of their favorite Disney from the Apple TV app will also be able to access those titles at no additional cost.
The Next Generation of Storytelling
The new collaboration is the next step in Disney’s commitment to storytelling. Through a combination of technology and Disney magic, fans can watch their favorite films in an all-new way.
“We’re a storytelling company first,” LaBerge said. “But we have incredible technological know-how and sophistication. Add to that, a legacy and culture of always seeking new ways to entertain, inform, and inspire.”
According to Alisa Bowen, president of Disney+, the Apple Vision Pro will have fans falling in love with their favorite films all over again.
“We can’t wait to see the reaction to this technology, as it transports viewers right into the story like never before, up close to our characters, their emotions and all the action,” she said. “It will let them rediscover their favorites all over again.”
Disney+ is now officially available on Apple Vision Pro.
