Disney Cruise Line Reveals New Bahamian Looks for Mickey and Minnie Coming to Lookout Cay
In just a few months, the first Disney Cruise ship will call upon Disney Cruise Line’s newest private island oasis, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, for the first time ever! In anticipation, Disney Cruise Line has just revealed the Bahamian-inspired looks Mickey and Minnie don as they welcome Guests to the private paradise on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera.
In keeping with the Bahamas theme, Disney Cruise Line tapped acclaimed Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett to design Mickey and Minnie’s new looks.

Elyett looked to the iconic Bahamian festival, Junkanoo, for his inspiration behind the bright and colorful outfits.
Born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas, Elyett was surrounded by art and fashion with tropical vibes. He was born with fashion designing in his veins, as his mother also owned a sewing factory. It is here that he made his first dress at an early age.

In 1998, at the age of 13, Eylett had his first designs hit the runway. (1998 is also the first year Disney Cruise Line set sail, so could this pairing be any more perfect?!) He has also seen his designs featured on contestants in Miss Bahamas and Miss Bahamas Universe pageants.
Once Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point welcomes its first Guests in June 2024, Mickey and Minnie’s new outfits will be among the many works of Bahamian-inspired art from local artists featured throughout the island.

In the past, Elyett’s designs have been seen everywhere, from Miss Universe contestants and celebrities to cover girls and government officials, and has always drawn upon the beauty of the Bahamas’ culture and hues for inspiration.
