Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek Joins Medical Firm Masimo’s Board of Directors
Former Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek has a new gig.
The man who both succeeded and preceded Bob Iger at the top of Disney has been appointed to the board of directors of the medical tech firm Masimo.
Masimo is Battling Apple
The addition of the longtime Disney veteran comes as Masimo finds itself in a battle with Apple over a patent dispute.
The International Trade Commission recently ruled that Apple infringed on Masimo’s patent with a blood oxygen tool featured in the company’s latest line of smartwatches.
Following the ruling, Apple bulled the watches off the market. It has subsequently been reported that the feature will be removed from subsequent editions.
Chapek Has Kept a Low Profile
Since leaving Disney in November of 2022, Chapek has largely kept out of the spotlight. In a press release following his addition to the Masimo board, the former Disney CEO sounded excited to be joining.
“I am thrilled to join the Masimo board,” the exec said in a press release. “I look forward to helping advance the company’s growth by leveraging their core technologies in the consumer and consumer health spaces.”
Chapek’s new role comes on the same day the Walt Disney Company revealed that the ex-CEO earned $9.94 million in 2023.
Masimo is “Honored” To Have Chapek on the Board
For their part, Masimo said they were “honored” to have Chapek join the board.
“We are honored to have Bob join the board. As we execute our hospital to home strategy, we expect to benefit greatly from Bob’s role on our board.”
