Lucasfilm Announces ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ — A ‘Mandalorian’ Feature Film!
Din Djarin and Grogu are heading to the big screen for a Mandalorian feature film.
Directed by Jon Favreau and produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, The Mandalorian & Grogu will go into production this year.

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Favreau. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
A New Addition To The Feature Film Roster
Interestingly, a Mandalorian movie was not one of the three feature films announced at last year’s Star Wars Celebration.
The new film will be made in addition to the previously announced Dave Filoni Mando-Verse film, James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi, and the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy film that will see Rey Skywalker rebuild the Jedi order.

“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen,” added Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.
While we don’t have any details yet on the film, with production starting this year, it sounds like The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first Star Wars film to hit theaters within the next few years.

How this affects a possible season 4 of The Mandalorian also remains to be seen.
‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Is Also Coming
At the end of their announcement that The Mandalorian & Grogu would be coming to theaters, Lucasfilm snuck in the detail that Dave Filoni is working on season 2 of Ahsoka.

The fan-favorite series saw the continuation of the Star Wars Rebels story, in addition to the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. A second season of the series had not previously been announced.
