‘What If…?’ Director Brian Andrews Pitched A Star Wars-Marvel Crossover
Season 2 of Marvel’s What If…? has come to a conclusion on Disney+, but if series director Bryan Andrews had his way, at least one episode of the series would have looked very different.

As it turns out, Andrews and his team pitched the idea of creating a Marvel and Star Wars cross-over event that would have been a “love letter to old-school ‘Star Wars.'”
Kevin Feige Vetoed The Idea
In the end, while writer Matthey Chauncey created “a reason that made sense” for the two iconic franchises to meet, Kevin Feige rejected the idea.

“I think Kevin [Feige] really doesn’t want to cross certain streams. But we did pitch. We actually had a Star Wars/Marvel crossover,” Andrews revealed.
Andrews Believes a Crossover Could Work
Although the idea was rejected, Andrews believes the concept would be doable. And a lot of fun.

“So I think it’s absolutely doable. I just don’t know if [Feige] wants to cross those streams, but it’s really funny,” he explained. “Once you get to the realization of why, you go, ‘Oh, that … oh, right!’ It totally makes sense. It won’t rain on anyone’s parade. But it was just a love letter to old-school Star Wars. And it was great. And I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to do it. But we have thought about that stuff.”
While Star Wars is primarily known as a live-action franchise, shows like The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels continue to be immensely popular. Perhaps one day, we will get the chance to see Captain America and Ahsoka Tano meet.
Season 1 and 2 of What If…? are now streaming on Disney+.
