Splash Mountain’s Play Area Deconstructed at Magic Kingdom
A lot is happening over at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and our team stopped by Frontierland to get a closer look.
In case you missed it, Magic Kingdom’s former Splash Mountain is in the midst of a massive re-theme.
For months, we’ve watched the classic attraction’s slow transformation into the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
But sometimes the old must give way to the new. And this week, a nostalgic play place gets the boot.
The Laughin’ Place No More
If you’ve ever watched your kids live their best lives at The Laughin’ Place — or maybe even played there yourself as a kid — prepare yourself, because this one hits hard.
The Laughin’ Place play space is officially no more. Construction crews deconstructed the Splash Mountain play area this week.

The Laughin’ Place
Previously located under the bridge for the Walt Disney World Railroad, the former play area offered the perfect place for little ones to get their wiggles out.
Brer Rabbit and The Laughin’ Place will undoubtedly be missed by nostalgic fans, but never fear! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is sure to offer a queue full of magic and wonder.
A Magical Transformation
The past week has brought major changes to the attraction and the surrounding area.
New shrubbery and picket fencing have been installed, replacing the tell-tale peak of the former Splash Mountain.
Now covered in dainty white flowers and lush green foliage, the area looks more like a soft rolling hill than a perilous mountain.

Additionally, construction crews completed work on a brand new cobblestone pathway that winds throughout the queue.

Progress can also be seen in the stairwork and brickwork.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom
The Princess and the Frog-inspired Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will follow Princess Tiana and her friends in a new storyline that takes place after the events of the 2009 animated film.
The Laughin’ Place may be a thing of the past, but Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will more than make up for the loss. The new attraction will offer a new look, a new soundtrack, and a magical new experience.
Disney expects the reimagined attraction to open to guests in late 2024.
