Where to Get a Fun On-the-Go Seasonal Breakfast in Disneyland
There’s no better way to start a day at Disneyland than with a cozy breakfast – especially one that’s been infused with holiday cheer!
On a morning visit to Disneyland Park this week, our MickeyBlog reporters stopped by a quaint New Orleans Square location for a spot of something savory and sweet… keep reading to read our full review…
Royal Street Veranda
Tucked away in New Orleans Square is the charming Royal Street Veranda restaurant, a cozy quick-service spot full of warming, on-the-go treats.
As you can see from our photos, the veranda is looking particularly beautiful with flourishes of beaded garlands for the season… but it’s the menu that has caught our eye today!
Displayed on the counter at the restaurant was this cute menu card, advertising the “Seasonal Specialty” item of the month — the Waffle Cristo.
A cozy variation to the classic Monte Cristo sandwich, this fun treat sounded like just the kind of bite we were looking for this morning…so let’s see what it’s all about!
From the menu, we can see this toasty waffle sandwich is stuffed with rosemary ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese, sounding especially Christmassy in flavor. To finish, the whole sandwich is served dusted in powdered sugar and served with the breakfast classics of strawberry preserve and maple syrup on the side.
Sounds good, right?
And wow, it sure does look good too!
Now, before we dig in, it must be noted that this particular treat is not available to Mobile Order. While Royal Street Veranda does offer this handy service, this particular season’s treat must be ordered from the counter. With that being said, let’s give it a try!
It was our MickeyBlogger Dan who tried this sandwich for us, and we’re thrilled to report that he definitely enjoyed the limited-time treat. Dan told us that the balance of the buttery waffle went beautifully with the sandwich filling, a perfect balance he would definitely recommend.
We liked that the waffle came with both a syrup and a preserve, yet the only slight niggle would be that the rosemary flavor wasn’t quite as powerful as one might hope for a Christmas dish. Aside from that, we think it’s safe to say that the Waffle Cristo is MickeyBlog-approved!
If you’re looking to try this out for yourself this season, be sure to head on down to Royal Street Veranda in Disneyland Park.
Here, there are two options to purchase the sandwich – a “Full Order” for $10.99, or a “Half Order” at $6.99. Dan ordered the half and confirmed it made a great brunch or morning snack.
