‘Rogue One’ Director Gareth Edwards Denies ‘Thor’ Rumors
With the announcement that Taiki Waititi will not return for a potential Thor 5, the internet has been abuzz with rumors of possible directors for the film.
One name that has frequently been thrown around is Rogue One director Gareth Edwards.
The idea that Edwards could help move the Thor franchise forward has apparently gained enough traction that even the director is aware of the buzz.
Edwards Addresses the ‘Thor 5’ Rumors
In a recent interview with the Post Cred Pod, however, the veteran filmmaker denied any involvement in Marvel’s future, although he didn’t exactly slam the door.
“I saw those rumors, too. I saw it, and I jokingly sent it to my girlfriend. And I just texted her the link and said, ‘I didn’t want you to find out this way.’ I’ve never heard anything about it. It’s totally… the internet is an incredible place,” The Creator director said.
Despite firmly stating that there is no credence to the rumors that he could join Thor 5, Edwards also expressed his appreciation for Marvel.
“I love those movies. I love Marvel. A lot of my friends work on Marvel films. I love all the other movies and franchises, I go to see them. I have most of them on my DVD/Blu-ray shelf. But I really want to keep pursuing original sci-fi. Was that a very politically correct answer?”
While it may be true that nothing is in the works, would Edwards ever consider jumping into the MCU?
“I never say never. In the right circumstances, absolutely.”
