New Lightning Lane Scanners Debut at the Haunted Mansion
Love it or hate it, Disney World’s Lightning Lane system is here to stay.
A newer paid version of the FastPass system that has been around for decades, Lightning Lane allows paying users to skip the line and more or less head straight onto the attraction.
While newer Disney World attractions have queues that were specifically designed to handle two different lines, for older attractions it took a little Imagineering to make the system feasible.

Years after Lightning Lane made its debut, Disney is still investing in infrastructure to make things as seamless as possible.
New Lightning Lane Scanners
While perhaps not the most exciting news for Disney fans, new scanners have been installed at the Haunted Mansion.
Located at the Lightning Lane entrance to the ride, the new touchpoints interact with MagicBand+ and confirm guests’ reservations for the attraction.
As you can see the new scanners have been painted the same iconic green color that is used throughout the Haunted Mansion.
They Interact with MagicBand+
The Haunted Mansion is one of the many Disney World attractions that makes a unique sound when you tap your MagicBand+. In this case, it plays a spooky jingle when you tap your band.
Here is another look at the new scanners. They look great!
If Disney is going to insist on using a system like Lightning Lane, it’s great to see the infrastructure integrated into the attraction’s theming as much as possible.
